towards the end of section three, [[1] I would change the order of the command, as guided by the usage text when running instaUp2Date without any arguments: Usage: instaUp2Date.py [options] catalogFile1 [catalogFile2 ...], so it would instead read:

./instaUp2Date.py -p 10.6_vanilla

To prevent a common beginners error

At the beginning of the third section, it might be a good idea to add a line,
10.5.x machines cannot create 10.6 images(and vice-versa) at this time
